Certified Rug Appraisers Exam 2010 Sign Up

Once again, on Saturday July 17, 2010 at Atlanta’s AmericasMart, ORRA will present its Certified Oriental Rug Appraiser’s Exam. The test will consist of two parts; the first half is written and the second half is rug identification. No amount of last minute cramming can prepare a candidate for this exam. The knowledge and expertise must come from years of learning and hands on experience. In an effort to help our members, ORRA offers educational seminars on Friday July 16 beginning at 9 a.m.; “Walk the Market” with Phil Menendian (scheduled for Friday July 16 at 3 pm); and a list of recommended reading materials.

The only way to know if you can pass is to take the exam! Pass or fail, you will benefit from taking it. This annual opportunity should not be missed! There will be a re-certification for current CRA’s at 4 p.m. ORRA recommends that current CRA’s re-certify every 5 years.

The exam is difficult but fair. You are tested on your technical and historical knowledge on hand knotted rugs. You are then asked to properly identify forty rugs that one might encounter in a typical appraisal. We include antique, semi-antique and new rugs, plus a ringer or two just to keep you on your toes.
