ORRA CRA Prep Course at Winter Market

New for this January 2010, the Oriental Rug Retailers of America, Inc. has developed a Preparatory Course for the Certified Oriental Rug Appraisal Exam that will be given in July 2010. This new course was developed due to ORRA members’ requests and demands for more opportunities to become better educated concerning Oriental rugs and to help ORRA members fulfill their strong desire to become ORRA Certified Rug Appraisers. This is a great opportunity and should not be missed. This course will be an important process and educational tool to aid in preparation for the ORRA Certified Rug Appraisal Exam. The CRA Prep 101 course will be on Sunday January 10, 2010 from 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm in Building 1 Room 4-G-7, during the Atlanta National Oriental Rug Show which runs Thursday January 7 thru Monday January 11, 2010 at AmericasMart in Atlanta, GA. Due to the special nature and intensity and educational value of this course, there will be a charge of $250. for ORRA members and $350. for non-members.

ORRA is delighted to have veteran and respected Oriental rug appraisers; Valentina Arbab, CRA, ISA, ASA and Frank S. Eways CRA, collaborate in teaching this course. The ORRA Board will be on hand to assist class participants with individualized attention. Course for Certified Rug Appraisers’ Exam – 101
Room 4-G-1 Building 1; 4th Floor.

This course will be a full day of examining the identifying characteristics of the most commonly encountered old Oriental rugs in the United States by an appraiser. They were imported, primarily, between WW I & WW II.   
The specific rugs to be identified in this session will be from Iran, as follows:

• Tabriz rugs
• Hamadan rugs
• Sarouk rugs  (Ferahan Saruk, Ferahan)
• Jozen rugs
• Lilihan rugs
• Heriz
• Kashan rugs
• Bidjar
• Kerman rugs

Walk the Market with Phil”- Meet at the ORRA Inc. Booth Building 1, 2nd Floor Temporaries
A new tour every season. This event is looked forward to by many and is always informative and fun! Visit selected importers showrooms or booths for the latest and most innovative textiles. Group discussion is encouraged during this tour. Walk the Market will take place on Saturday January 9 at 3 pm. Please meet at the ORRA In. booth on the temporaries floor 2 Building 1 promptly at 3 pm where the tour will begin. This tour is free of charge.
