Re-Certification Program - No charge
Once again, on Monday July 14, 2008 at
Atlanta’s AmericasMart, ORRA will present its Certified Oriental Rug
Appraisal Program. The test will consist of two parts; the first half is
written and the second half is rug identification. No amount of last
minute cramming can prepare a candidate for this exam. The knowledge and
expertise must come from years of learning and hands on experience. In
an effort to help our members, ORRA offers a “Walk the Market” with
Phil Menendian (Sunday July 13 at 3:00 pm, meet in front to Room 4-B-1
for tour) and a list of recommended reading. All current CRA’s have
learned the hard way. There are no shortcuts! The only way to know if
you can pass is to take the exam! Pass or fail, you will benefit greatly
from taking it. This opportunity should not be missed!
The exam is difficult but fair. You are
tested on your technical and historical knowledge on hand knotted rugs.
You are then asked to properly identify forty rugs that one might
encounter in a typical appraisal. We include antique, semi-antique and
new rugs, plus a ringer or two just to keep you on your toes. Each half
of the exam is graded separately. We hope to see you in July!
